Corded lace has a raised thread following the outline of every motif, so the pattern stands off the ground fabric instead of sitting flat in it. You can feel it with a fingertip. It is slower to make and it looks it.
The Émeline uses it across the whole body with no plain panels to break it up — the most expensive way to cut this fabric and the only one that does it justice.
